As per the CBLR 2018 Sec (20), each Customs Broker shall enroll himself as a member of the Customs Brokers Association, if there is one, registered in the Customs Station and recognized by the Commissioner of Customs. The membership of CCBA is made mandatory for Customs Brokers to transact business at Cochin Sea Port and Airport. CCBA has membership strength of 203 ordinary members and 2 Associate members as on date.
CCBA publishes an annual diary, which has consistently been well-received by our members, as well as by exporters and importers. This year, we are pleased to continue this tradition, producing the diary as a valuable reference book for the trade. We have included comprehensive lists of stevedores, console agents, and NVOCCs, which we trust will be of great use to the trade community.
A full-fledged reference library is maintained at the CCBA Office. The library consists of books related to import/export, labor laws, tax laws, general law, and other allied acts useful for our members and the EXIM trade. We encourage our members to make use of this valuable resource.
The Association has its own air-conditioned conference hall with a seating capacity of 50-60. This facility is used for CCBA General Body Meetings, training programs, conferences, etc. The EXIM trade can also avail themselves of this facility for conducting meetings. Currently, the hall is regularly used by the Cochin Port Lease Holders Association for their meetings.
The Members' Grievance Cell operates under CCBA, primarily to ensure the amicable settlement of outstanding dues to our members from their customers and address other grievances. Shri V.S. Pradeep is the Convener of the cell. Complaints of outstanding payments from members are increasing every year. We wish to caution members who are accepting work from new clients to ensure that these clients are not switching their customs brokers while leaving significant outstanding amounts, as they may deceive you as well. Unity and cooperation are essential to curb such malpractices.
The CCBA Documentation Centre commenced its operations at ICTT, Vallarpadam on 02.05.2017. Services such as photocopies, printouts, scanning, mail assistance, and online VGM processing are offered there at a nominal charge. The centre operates in two shifts with the following timings: 1st Shift: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM
CCBA continues to be the official distributor of Sepio e-seals in Kerala. We also provide assistance to exporters on issues related to e-seals.
